Plans to Progress: News from the New Bern Redevelopment Commission
The New Bern Redevelopment Commission was incorporated in May 2018 with the charge of redeveloping blighted areas within the City of New Bern. The Commission focused its efforts in the Greater Five Points area of the city.
Within months of its creation, the community was further devastated by Hurricane Florence and then an unprecedented global pandemic. Ever resilient, in the fall of 2022, the Commission hired a visionary Executive Director who is making great strides in revitalizing this historic New Bern community.
On April 19, Coastal Women’s Forum will welcome Catrecia McCoy Bowman, Executive Director of the New Bern Redevelopment Commission. Catrecia will share her vision and action plans for working with the community to recreate vibrant neighborhoods within the Greater Five Points area.
Catrecia has led award winning programs in creating stable housing and establishing family self-sufficiency incubator units. She has also led Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) assistance crews following federal disasters and served in a variety of roles with the Wilmington, High Point and Deerfield Beach Housing Authorities.
For more than 30 years, Catrecia has created strategic alliances that have enabled her to work across all sectors to create and lead effective action-oriented collaborations. Her vision and passion inspire the creation of safe, healthy and thriving communities!

Meal Cancellation Policy:
For both the daytime and evening meetings, if you wish to receive a refund, the final cancellation deadline is 5pm the Sunday before the meeting. All cancellation requests and meeting registration questions must be sent to the appropriate coordinator at cwflunch@gmail.com or cwfdinner@gmail.com.
