Colleen Roberts

Colleen Roberts was born & raised in Washington, DC & attended college in Baltimore, MD. After a 15-year career in broadcast journalism, she was recruited by the Military Growth Task Force to lead communications efforts as force readiness swelled & receded in eastern North Carolina. Being able to tell the story of the expected impacts across education, healthcare, land use, quality of life & water resources meant it was essential to use many different communications methods & to create content with broad-based appeal.

In 2011, Mrs. Roberts joined the City of New Bern as its first citywide Public Information Officer where communication & engagement are just as important, internally & externally.  She led efforts to rebrand New Bern in 2014, facilitated national & international coverage of New Bern for General Motors & Pfizer campaigns & the filming of Sleepy Hollow in New Bern.  She also led the City’s communications efforts during hurricane Florence in 2018, one of the most devastating hurricanes in North Carolina history in which city staff participated in more than 100 interviews with national & international media.

Now, she is working on engaging citizens to learn more about local government through New Bern 101, the City’s first ever local government class that teaches participants about local government functions, responsibilities & challenges & educates them on city programs & services. In addition to online & social media communications & public relations, she manages the City’s government access channel, City 3 TV. Mrs. Roberts is a member of North Carolina City & County Communicators (NC3C) as well as the City County Communications & Marketing Association (3CMA).

The final registration deadline is 5pm the Sunday before the meeting. For both the daytime and evening meetings, if you wish to receive a refund, the final cancellation deadline is 5pm the Sunday before the meeting. 

All cancellation requests and meeting registration questions must be sent to the appropriate coordinator at CWFlunch@gmail.com or CWFdinner@gmail.com. If you have not canceled your registration by the deadline, you will NOT receive a refund or credit.
