It’s been so long since our CWF members have been able to gather, and unfortunately, it looks like it may be a bit longer. Please know that the CWF board misses you all, and we have been working to find ways for us to meet, if not in person, at least virtually. We are excited to ask you all to please mark your calendars for Wednesday, May 13th from noon to 1:00 p.m. for CWF’s first virtual luncheon meeting!
Thank you to Mary Lou Infinito, our scheduled speaker, for her flexibility in presenting online. Mary Lou will discuss the bridge that we all must cross: The bridge from life to death.
Mary Lou Infinito began her career in Oncology Nursing. From there she became interested and involved in many different areas of End-of-Life care over the years.
Through the Vidant Health system, Mary Lou has become a Certified Death Doula as well as a trained instructor in many educational programs for helping others including - Respecting Choices – both First Steps and Advance Steps, The End-of-Life Nursing Education Consortium (ELNEC), The “Hello” Game, and The Serious Illness Care Program. In addition, Mary Lou is educated as a Hospice Volunteer, and she is excited to be able to provide additional education, insights, and support to providers and communities throughout eastern North Carolina and beyond regarding celebrating both living and dying.
Mary Lou is one of three Outreach Education Coordinators for Advance Care Planning with Vidant Health covering the Eastern twenty-nine counties of North Carolina. This work assists in making advance care planning a routine part of health care in an effort to assure that both families and the medical community are aware of and can follow a patient’s individual choices for care.
In addition to Mary Lou’s presentation, we will enjoy a lively game of virtual bingo – and yes, there will be prizes (real not virtual )! Watch in the coming days for a quick CWF survey related to the presentation and quick links to get you connected on Wednesday, May 13th from noon-1:30 p.m.
